A Pleasant FAF!

Agenda:
1. Parents are now able to go online to their My CBE / PowerSchool account to pay fees for both our Skiing/Snowboard days as well as Outdoor School - both occur in 2019.
2. Story/narrative good copy due Thursday, December 6th.
3. Novel Recommendation - presentations begin on Monday, December 17th. See below for the sheet you will receive on Monday.  HW - decide on a novel to recommend that you have read since September, 2018.
4. Science Fair students - bring $2 and highlight important parts of the Science Fair booklet.

We learned about the bark and branch patterns of our 'adopted' tree.
How did you show what you learned?
We went out and analyzed our trees like dendrologists.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to keep classifying our trees based on other attributes.

We discussed some of the reasons why a local government is important to it's citizens.

We need to look at the services the local government provides.

We discussed what services would make 'sense' for local governments to provide.

We need to recognize that all 3 levels of government provide us with some services.

We had some great volunteers join and help us to complete this process for our CBC Music Contest.

We need to find out how our video compared with others from around Canada.

We co-created the parts of a narrative rubric with Mr. O'Reilly.

We need to apply the elements of the rubric into our story writing.

How did you show what you learned?
We discussed this as a class, as much of the information we get comes from the internet, including the news.

We need to study for our Social Studies test - this Thursday.

We learned the connection between responsibilities and freedoms. 
How did you show what you learned?
We discussed this in class and gave some examples of responsibilities and freedoms at home and school.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to determine if the 'freedom of the internet' needs to be guaranteed as a fundamental freedom in the Charter.

A Chilly FAF!

Agenda:

Highlights
What did you learn today?
We noticed the following about our trees, since we are becoming 'dendrologists':  there were curves in the trunk, cracks in the bark, bark was stripped off in some places, a red stain at the base of the trunk, my tree split into 2 trunks, sappy stains, same bark pattern continues until the top, I noticed letters in the bark (K)...
How did you show what you learned?
We chose 'our' trees in Whispering Woods.
What do you need to learn next?
We are wondering: how old my tree is?, will the tree survive until I'm 80?, do the mites on the bark affect humans?, why does my tree have more than one trunk? how tall and wide will my tree grow?, what type of tree is my tree?, is it a 'dicot'?
