March 22nd, 2017 - World Water Day!

1) ****We will have a mandatory Parent Meeting for Outdoor School on Tuesday April 11th from 5 - 6pm in the Library.   Outdoor School is from May 2 - May 5th. You can be paying for this overnight field trip online and in installments over the next few months if you would prefer. 

2) Please remember to bring your items for our Family Dance bucket - we have Division 1 and 2 Boys. 

3) We have our Clay For Kids Residency on Thursday April 6th. We will need a few parent volunteers, please let Mrs. Saunders/Mr. Pedenko know if you are available to help with this project for some or all of that day. We will have them again on April 12th from 11:00 - 12:00. 


4)The Family Dance is on Friday April 7th

5) Have a safe and fun March Break!!  See you back on April 3rd.

We need to continue conserving water ( and limit the amount of wastewater we produce each day).

We received our Sky Science quiz back today. Some of us did not receive the results we would have liked. 
How did you show what you learned?
We had a conversation about why the test did not go as planned. 1) We realized that with PAT questions, there are things you can't study for. 2) We realized that even though this was a science quiz, it also tested our reading comprehension skills. and 3) We realized that some of us experienced test anxiety and felt that we didn't perform to the best of our ability. 
What do you need to learn next?

We are practicing how to write multiple choice questions. We are reviewing how to think critically about what we read and ask ourselves questions to ensure we understand what we have read.

1) ***Tomorrow is our Ski/Snowboard Lesson - 9:00 - 3:00  If you are bringing your own equipment, please ensure you label ALL items. Please bring it to room 7 and place it all on the risers (Dr. E.W. Coffin School and Winsport/COP will not be held responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged equipment).

Please ensure you dress for the weather and in lots of layers. Also, bring your lunch, a water bottle and an extra snack or 2.  Helmets will be made available at COP (you will need to bring your own goggles and/or sunglasses, if you wish).

On march 7 2002 scientists discover that part of antarcticas Larsen ice Shelf had broke away and sent iceberg’s into, the Weddell sea. Expert’s have different views about what might havecaused the collapse of the ice shelf. All there explunations involve a warmin trend in tempratures in that region. The broken chunks of the ice shelf was a whooping 650 feet thick and 1300 square mile. Thats larger then the state of Rhode island?

the anual Spring migration of the whooping crane begins about the first weak of march. Did you know that the wooping crane is the talest bird in north America. Its call canbe herd from two miles away. Of the 15 species of cranes 11 of they is in dangur of becomeing extynct. crane feathers are maid ofthe same material as human fingernails’ and require much preaning. Some cranes paynt there feather’s with mudd during breading!
